Alys Beach Wedding, a perfect groom reaction

This past weekend I had the privilege of shooting with Genya of VUE Photography for a beautiful and intimate wedding in Alys Beach. I'm currently pouring through my set of images, but you should definitely check out VUE for the full collection! The day was perfect. Perfect weather, a beautiful couple, relaxed timeline, and love to go around.

In perusing through my images from the day, I found this one of David seeing his bride for the first time. 

My heart leaps. Every woman wants to be looked at in this way. 

Summerour studios... an Atlanta wedding

Remember the post about the drug pushers? Well here they are again! This time, we have a full post of their fabulous wedding.

Kyle and Michelle wanted nothing more than a party and a celebration with their family and friends. Both of them are extremely low-key and laid back. Their wedding was a perfect reflection of that. As we discussed which shots they were most interested in from the day, it was repeated over and over about how they just wanted images showing them having great time with people around them. Their night was designed just that way, and I loved the intimate nature of Summerour mixed with the attendance of the people that mean the most to them.

Mutual shoe-lust

Bonding over shoes is something that I can totally get behind. Also, it happens on a day to day basis. Just this afternoon I bonded with a girl from my kickboxing class over her gorgeous gold C. Wonder loafers. They shined through our pain.

This evening one of my June brides texted me that her shoes had arrived. Shoes that we have of course talked about before and been anticipating since the purchase. Oh love.

Historic Savannah engagement session

Last week I took the trip down to Savannah, Ga to meet with Susan and Pat for their engagement session. I first met Susan about 3 years ago for another session with her and one of her best friends. I ended up photographing her best friend's wedding, and now... I'm photographing Susan's! Hooray for circles!!

When talking with Susan about what she wanted to do for her engagement session, she mentioned keeping it casual and personal. She had the idea to go around to all of her and Pat's favorite spots in Savannah to photograph them in their 'element'. The best thing about this is that those places are now MY favorites. Seriously. I purchased 3 chocolate bars at one of these spots.

We were warned to head to Leopold's early because the crowds start coming. Luckily we arrive right before opening!

Of course we headed down to Riverstreet for the rest of the engagement session. You can't go to Savannah without that!

Our last stop was impromptu... the Pink House! Apparently it's great and I have been instructed to dine upon my return. See you in October :) 

Piedmont Park Elopement | Amanda and Tyler

Just this afternoon I had the great pleasure of meeting with Amanda and Tyler to photograph the two of them. This wasn't just any session, they were eloping! When I spoke with Amanda about the session she mentioned that the two of them were coming to Atlanta during their spring break from Alabama to have their wedding at the courthouse. Since they were coming just the two of them, they wouldn't have any pictures from their day. That's where I came into play.

I met the two of them at Piedmont Park during a rather warm 37degree March day. :) We had a blast. The two of them were impeccably dressed. After expressing my delight in the florals that they were wearing Amanda explained that she had done the handiwork. Talk about crafty. A DIY dream. I'll give you her number if you want to get your hands on similar accessories!

Bert's Big Adventure | Spotlight on Ziyonn

I have had the enormous/gigantic/overwhelming/bad-ass privilege of being a part of Bert's Big Adventure for the 2013 year. My duties actually started in 2012, but that is besides the point. The 2013 trip was unbelievable. I cannot imagine a finer group of people to work with, families to meet, and kids to spend time with. Seriously, I could go on and on about everyone, but I wouldn't be satisfied in how I explained the trip...and so I would continue to go on and on and on and it wouldn't do the trip justice. 

I've decided that I want to do spotlights on the kids that were a part of the 2013 trip, and that are now a part of the BBA family forever. Being a photographer on the trip, we were assigned to two families a day to make sure that these families not only had a great time at Disney, but that they also had complete documentation of their experience. I was able to work with 4 remarkable kids/families. The first that I want to introduce you to is Ziyonn. 

You can read about Ziyonn had his story here. I was able to spend the day with Ziyonn and his family on our second day at Disney. Jeff Dauler, a co-host on the Bert Show, also spent time with the family and we had a hard time keeping up with Ziyonn. I'm not sure who designed his wheelchair, but it was probably the Doc from Back to the Future. Seriously. This kid is fast.

First day at Disney!!

First day at Disney!! We had a pool party and Michael from Troika Video (the videographers) helped Ziyonn take part in the pool party. 

Our second day was spent at Animal Kingdom. Ziyonn is getting a tattoo with BBA Staff's Erin in the first picture. In the second image Ziyonn and Bert have switched sunglasses and are working on a music deal for Jay-Z :)

Ziyonn and Jeff did a lot of exploring. At Animal Kingdom Ziyonn was interesting in everything!

Note Jeff's pink bag... thanks for being the pack mule! In the second photo Jeff and Ziyonn are picking out Dinosaur gear because that's what you do.

On the last night we were able to view the Indiana Jones experience. Ziyonn loved it!!!!

A couple of drug pushers...

In the purest sense of the terms, Kyle and Michelle give out drugs. You see, they're both pharmacists so it's their duty to deal. I think a small part of me wishes that I could go back and endure the grueling 7+ years of schooling that it takes to become a pharmacist if for nothing other than I'd have a right to claim all of the corny 'drug pusher' jokes. Michelle, I hope you don't hate me for this post.

I'm currently finishing up the edits for Kyle and Michelle's Summerour Studios wedding and wanted to share few portraits of the day.

Something new...

You've found my first post! Congratulations! If you contact me and let me know that you saw my first post then I promise to tell you the funniest knock knock joke that I know. I might tell you a dirty joke, too, but you'll have to ask nicely and prove that there is no risk for incrimination. 

Back to this 'first post' business: you're looking at a brand new site! My old posts are still available on my server so if you're interested I can send you the complete works of my blog from 2009-2013. For now, I'm starting new. Take a look around the new site. There will be new work and over the next month there will be much more to read here. If you get tired of waiting for me to update then you can always harass me via email or phone. I'll love and hate you for it, and maybe send you a gift card to the movies so that you can get off of the computer and stop harassing me. 

In all seriousness. I'm proud of this new site and I hope you love it.
